International Women's Day

Chinese author Lin Yutang says that “Of all the rights of women; the greatest of these is to be a Mother.”

Yet millions of women are denied this right each day. Whether it is a Mother in Russia who is unable to care for a child due to poverty, whose only alternative to abortion is to place her child in an orphanage or an unwed, or an expectant Mother in the US or other country facing similar disadvantages; economic, political and social achievements continue to be challenges faced by women.

Each year around the world, International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. It is a day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.
